  1. In physics, a force is an influence that can change the motion of an object. A force can cause an object with mass to change its velocity, that is to accelerate. Force is represented by the symbol F and is measures in Newtons in the SI system.
  2. The capacity to do work or cause physical change; energy, strength, or active power.
  3. Power made operative against resistance; exertion.
  4. The use of physical power or violence to compel or restrain.
