A non-profit outreach program for people starting out in Information Technology (IT).

The particular interest in this wiki is the engagement of local and regional young students to mentor them along IT career paths.

Introductory and Advanced lessons will be available to kick-start and nurture interest, which can then be continued through remote learning and collaboration.

The main requirement is for students to be keen to learn and have some availability and access to basic IT and networking equipment in order to participate.

We will endeavor to establish outreach programs in various regional areas encompassing a wider scope over time.

The outreach program is currently looking for sponsorship, instructors and helpers.

The course material covers hardware, programming and development, supporting projects where the students get to make stuff. This is our way of giving back to the community, with a special interest in regional communities.

Adult instructors/supervisors are required to hold Working With Vulnerable People registration.

Content Security

This wiki uses authentication and fine-grained access controls that are applied when publishing pages, only some pages will be viewable by the public. Account details are not public, and passwords are not stored in the clear. We also cannot recover passwords - we can only reset them should you forget your password.

This wiki exclusively uses SSL/TLS to safeguard your account and password input, and SSL/TLS covers your access to its page contents.

Indexing

This wiki is for people like you who want to learn and develop their skills.

But this wiki is also visited by web-bots, though only public pages are accessible. We return a robots.txt file to ask the robot to go away but that is not always honoured. If the use of the wiki becomes abusive we will intercede and enforce reverse proxy authentication and router enforced blocking.

The wiki indexing is extensive with:

  • word search
  • a general index, and
  • provides category indexes,

any of which may be used to find content. The use of categories will be particularly useful since we expect there to be more and more reference and lesson material accumulating over time.
