  • 2023-06-10 Looking at efficacy of migrating to tiki and use https://doc.tiki.org/Permissions instead of MediaWiki Access Control extensions. It will be sad when I leave MediaWiki - if I do as I will need to invent new corporate procedures and backup scripting.
  • 2023-06-09 Removed special pages link for anonymous users and Updated grant for some Special: pages access. See Security.

🚩 Note: The mediawiki Special:Version privileges and page grant is convoluted. It is alleged that the MediaWiki user privileges mechanism may be subject to a re-write.

  • 2022-06-09 I have not yet determined how to refactor to permit anonymous users to edit Talk pages. Authenticated users on the other hand will be able.

🚩 Note: that category:edit:* was my first attempt at permitting anonymous users the privilege to edit this page. However, other mediawiki privileges checks cause the userCan hook not to be called and participate in arbitration. The privileges mechanism is rather adhoc and full of legacy code. (See also Security.)
